Saint-Victor-sur-Ouche

A video montage showing the potential visual impact of the Grands Communaux wind farm project on the commune of Saint-Victor-sur-Ouche.

Although the shape of the valley means the Grands Communaux turbines will not be visible from the village of Saint-Victor-sur-Ouche, they will be very visible from the high parts of the commune west of the village. In this video, for example, the turbines of the Saint-Jean-de-Bœuf sector are visible on the horizon 4 to 5 km away, and those of the Antheuil sector 4.5 to 6.3 km away. The spot is on the walk known as “Sur les pas d’Henri Vincenot” (In the footsteps of Henri Vincenot).

The blades turning above the horizon will be very noticeable to viewers at this distance. Movement makes objects in the landscape more visible and increases their visual contrast. The movement of the blades is a very important part of the visual experience of a wind energy project.

The impact of flashing lights in the night sky must also be taken into account.

In all the photos and videos, the turbines shown have a hub height of 115 m and a rotor diameter of 130 m, giving a tip height of 180 m. By comparison, the turbines at Bessey-en-Chaume are 130 m to the blade tip. The turbines are shown to scale, but in reality they will be far more visible than digital projections can show.

The turbines are numbered T1–T13. T1–T8 are in the Saint-Jean-de-Bœuf sector; T9–T13 are in the Antheuil sector. For more information, see the project overview and the project map (right).
